The Anomaly of Geomagnetic Variation in Japan(Part X)

Kuboki, T.

Abstract

Many investigators have already found that there are anomalies of the geomagnetic rapid variation in Japan. The relation between three components (ΔH, ΔD and ΔZ) of rapid variation vector is approximately expressed by the following equation, ΔZ=AΔH+BΔD.
In this paper, the author determined the coefficients A and B at Hiraiso (140°- 38'E, 36°-22'N) and Iwaki (l40°-48'E, 36°-55'N). The values of A and B are 0.67 and -0.22 respectively at Hiraiso and 0.66 and -0.34 at Iwaki. The change of A and B due to the duration of variation is small.
At Iwaki, the vertical component of the ssc has preliminary reverse impulse when ΔD/ΔH is large, but the other components have not.
The vector S directs nearly northwards in Kanto district and north-westerly in Fukushima Pref..
