Time-series plots of observation data from Kakioka, Memambetsu, Kanoya and Chichijima are available on the Observation Data Plot page of the website. The menu can be used to navigate to the station and time for the desired data.
The following data are provided:
Definitive data: Data that have already been edited, including corrections for anomalies and conversion to absolute values. The dataset is updated in the month after observation.
Provisional data: Data that have not been corrected for anomalies or converted to absolute values. The dataset is updated every five minutes for Kakioka, Memambetsu and Kanoya, and once a day at around 09:00 JST (00:00 UTC) for Chichijima.
In response to international requests, the Kakioka Magnetic Observatory provides geomagnetic, geoelectric and atmospheric electronic data from Kakioka, Memambetsu, Kanoya and Chichijima to support research on geomagnetism and the solar-terrestrial environment.
The website also lists Tokyo geomagnetic data (hourly values for 1868 - 1912) collected by the Central Meteorological Observatory (the predecessor of the Japan Meteorological Agency).
Notes
Publication of research involving the use of Kakioka Magnetic Observatory data should cite the dataset and the relevant DOI (Data DOIs).
